Tongue and lip ties are a topic we’re hearing more and more about across dentistry, lactation, speech pathology and allied health, but with so much information (and misinformation) out there, it can be hard to know what the evidence actually says.This webinar takes a practical look at the contemporary assessment and management of tongue and lip ties, covering what to look for clinically, how oral restrictions can affect function, and where multidisciplinary care fits in.
We’ll also unpack when intervention may be appropriate, when a conservative approach may be the better option, and how we can support patients and families to make informed decisions about their care.
Learning outcomes
- To identify normal frenulum anatomy and classify different tongue and lip ties
- To evaluate the impact of tongue and lip ties on infant feeding and maternal well-being
- To recognize the long-term developmental milestones effected by tethered oral tissues
- To identify when multi-disciplinary referrals are required

Associate Professor Angus Cameron
Specialist Paediatric Dentist

Angus Cameron is a specialist paediatric dentist practicing in Sydney. He worked at Westmead Hospital in Sydney for over 30 years, heading the Department of Paediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics for over 18 years. Angus is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Sydney and the University of Newcastle. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the International College of Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International Angus has lectured extensively throughout Australia and internationally and is the co-editor of the leading textbook, the Handbook of Pediatric Dentistry recently published in its 5th edition and translated into 7 languages. Now, predominately in private practice, he consults in Sydney’s northern beaches, and on the central coast of NSW. His main interests are in the management of children with dental anomalies, paediatric oral medicine, trauma and particularly those with special needs. He also runs a specialist clinic for children with feeding and speech difficulties and tongue ties.
